Lunnie, a trailblazing brand dedicated to improving the postpartum experience for modern mothers, is thrilled to announce that its founder, Sarah Kallile, alongside her mother, Sue Beresh, have been awarded a patent for the innovative design of the Lunnie All-Day Leakproof Nursing Bra.
Sarah Kallile, a mother of three young daughters, created Lunnie based on her own frustrations with traditional nursing bras. Sarah set out to create an innovative leakproof nursing bra that was both flattering and functional. Sarah recruited her own mom Sue, a talented seamstress, to sew the first prototype.
After extensive research and testing from the Lunnie Hive mom community, that prototype has now become the patented Lunnie All-Day Leakproof Nursing Bra. The product contains leakproof, sewn-in cups that are lab-tested and proven up to 6x more absorbent than leading competitors. The flattering and comfortable design is loved by moms of all sizes.
"Receiving this patent is a testament to our commitment to innovation and supporting mothers," said Sarah Kallile, Founder and CEO of Lunnie. "The Lunnie Nursing Bra is a product born out of necessity and refined through community collaboration. I’m grateful for the support of the Entrepreneurs’ Center in Dayton to obtain this patent.”
This achievement is especially notable as only about 12% of all patents are granted to female inventors, according to the USPTO. The Lunnie All-Day Leakproof Nursing Bra, now patented, stands as a symbol of what can be achieved when mothers are at the forefront of product development.
Since its launch in 2022, Lunnie has garnered a loyal following and has quickly sold out, driven by organic word-of-mouth within the Lunnie Hive community. This patent announcement comes ahead of Lunnie launching their Lunnie 2.0 All-Day Leakproof Nursing Bra on September 3, 2024 including expanded sizes, a new color, and lower pricing.
Lunnie was awarded Utility Patent No. US 12,022,891.
